It is Halloween time<\/strong>, and while dogs are not allowed to have regular candy, they can have a lot of fun with pumpkins!<\/p>\n

Last weekend, I got my dogs a small pumpkin. <\/p>\n

I cut the top out and scooped out the insides. Scooping out the insides is a good idea because last year, they made a big mess with it. I also did not want them eating the gooey pumpkin insides. <\/p>\n

Then I put some chicken into the now hollowed out pumpkin, and put the top back on.<\/p>\n

This was of course, too little of a challenge for them. They quickly knocked the top off, and got to the chicken in short order.

To make things more challenging, I decided to stuff a Hollee-Roller Ball<\/a> into the pumpkin. <\/p>\n

Their Halloween mission<\/strong> – should they choose to accept it – is to get the pumpkin open, pull out the ball, and then get the piece of chicken out of the ball. <\/p>\n

This was better, but still not enough of a challenge. My Shiba Inu and Siberian Husky<\/a> not only accepted the mission, but got to the chicken without much effort.<\/p>\n

Then I got a better idea …<\/em> <\/p>\n

I used a screwdriver to make holes on the inside of the pumpkin shell, then, I stuffed little pieces of cheese into those holes. That really got them interested in the pumpkin, and they had a lot of fun trying to get the pieces of cheese out. Success!<\/strong><\/p>\n

Just make sure that your dog does not eat too much of the pumpkin as that may disturb his digestive system. Siberian Shania had a lot of fun tearing the pumpkin shell apart but she was not interested in eating the pieces.<\/p>\n

How I celebrated Halloween with my dogs and had lots of fun with a pumpkin! What worked out best is poking holes around the sides of the pumpkin and stuffing boiled chicken into those holes.
