Today I had one of the most frightening experiences of my life! <\/p>\n

It started out pleasant enough, the Ok-Smelling-Female<\/em> was hugging me and giving lots of attention<\/a>. Then the Pungent-Male<\/em> came over and paid homage to me as well, so things were moving along nicely. <\/p>\n

Suddenly …<\/strong> they brought out this new toy<\/a> – or so I thought!<\/em> <\/p>\n

First I was curious. I smelled it, then licked it, but it seemed like a pretty lame toy, so I soon lost interest. The Female-One<\/em> started touching it to my nails which tickled. It was fun for a while. <\/p>\n

But then …<\/strong><\/p>\n

Before I knew what was happening the Pungent-Male<\/em> held onto me and the Female-One<\/em> cut one of my nails. <\/p>\n

Could it be that my followers were revolting against my “benevolent” monarchy?! <\/p>\n

It cannot be! I was shedding royal blood!<\/em> <\/p>\n

I ran around shouting for reinforcements. Finally my followers realized the error of their ways. They came over and put some white stuff <flour<\/em>> over my wound and it got better. <\/p>\n

Maybe I will forgive them if they give me lots of treats and toys.<\/em><\/p>\n

Never use a nail clipper on a Shiba when you can use a nail grinder<\/a>. I recommend the Dremel Minimite – no cords to tempt me to pounce and chew. <\/p>\n

With a grinder, it is also easier to avoid the quick<\/a> which means no royal blood sacrifice will be necessary. <\/p>\n

It is acceptable when my subjects slowly file down my nails with a grinder while feeding me chicken and cheese<\/a>.\n<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Shiba Inu Diary – Sephy’s first experience with nail cutting. It did not go very well because we cut into the quick of the nail and Shiba Sephy started bleeding. We have found that with a Shiba, it is easier to groom nails using a nail grinder rather than a nail clipper.
