Shiba WordPress Theme Release 2.4
Shiba WordPress Theme Release 2.4 gives you greater flexibility in customizing your theme images.
1. Custom Thumbnail Support
The Shiba WordPress Theme now supports custom post thumbnails (introduced in WordPress 2.9).
You can set a post thumbnail while in your Edit Post screen. This thumbnail will be used while showing your post excerpts on your blog front page.
If no thumbnail is set, then the first image in your post will be automatically used as a thumbnail.
2. Post Background Images
The top and bottom post background images are now properly named within the Appearance >> Custom Colors interface. There is also a greater variety of background images available.
3. Add Your Own Gravatar Images
Now you can easily create and add your own gravatar images to the Shiba theme.
First, create a directory called wp-content/images/gravatar in your WordPress installation. Then put all of your gravatar files in that directory. Gravatar files should have equal width and height (i.e. width = height). The regular gravatar images on gravatar.com are sized to be 80px by 80px.
The Shiba theme will check if the gravatar directory exists, and if so, it will automatically use the custom images there for anonymous users. Users who do have a gravatar account will still get their regular gravatar images.
4. Add Your Own Comment Images
You can now create your own set of background comment images.
- Pick a name for your set of comment images.
- Create a directory called wp-content/images/comments/your_comment_images_name within your WordPress installation.
- Put your custom background comment images within your new directory. Comment images are sized 200px by 200px and are best displayed as transparent PNG files.
- Go into the Appearance >> Custom Images menu in your WordPress dashboard. Your new comment image set should now be displayed in the drop-down menu under Comment Images.
- Pick your new comment image set and click on Set Comment Image. Your new comment image set will now be used for the current theme.
5. Load Images into the Shiba Theme from the Media Library
You can now load header and footer images into the Shiba Theme from your local computer (as before) or directly from your WordPress Media Library.
The interface used is identical to the insert image interface from editing posts. However, you will insert the image into your Shiba Theme when you click on the Insert Image into Post button.
To get the best results, the full-sized image will always be used.
If the image is not properly sized, you will be directed to a screen to crop the image. Once you are done with the cropping operation, a new copy of the cropped image will be saved in your WordPress Media Library.
Your original image will be left untouched.
6. Directly Edit Previously Saved Themes
Previously saved themes can now be directly edited without first activating the theme.
Go to Appearance >>Save/Restore. Each saved theme now has extra buttons that allow you to directly alter their images, colors, and advertisements.
Click on the relevant button and edit in the same way as you did previously. Changes will be saved to the theme that you selected.
